Slithery Snakes & Dalston Squares
This is a lovely walk of under an hour through Dalston Squares. It is a walk of contrasts: new and old, bustle and calm. Leaving the bustle behind, we use quiet roads and estate paths, to visit, squares and gardens, from three different centuries. This walk passes through Evergreen Square, Albion Square and De Beauvoir Square. Evergreen Square has an unusual design which includes a dynamic landscape of rubber-coated mounds and valleys, huge boulders and a poem written with local schools that appears in different guises throughout the square. Albion Square is an early Victorian garden square, and De Beauvoir Square is the only surviving part of an 1820’s grand plan, for up market housing.
