Angels Hill
Boggart Hole Clough is 190 acres of urban park in Blackley with playing fields, a boating lake and ‘fish pond’. Take this walk to discover the area for yourself. Heading off the main roads of Charlestown, this route leads you to and from the park through the quieter roads and footpaths of the area. Follow the route around the park and head up towards Angel’s Hill to see the impressive war memorial, topped by an angel, before making your way back.

A lovely walk, but a bit steep in places. all paths are well paved and there are lots of information boards on wildlife etc. There is a boat house near the lake that at one time was open as a cafe altho i have never personally seen this open. There are lots of areas for children to play football etc, and the playground park is lovely for the under 5′s. There is not much for older children tho. There is a picnic area and lots of benches on your way round for a little rest (you will need it with the big hill), there is a rangers station with loo’s, and last of all this park is lovely and clean.

There are a few alternative walks around Bogart Hole Clough that avoid the hills altogether, or provide a less severe incline up Angel Hill. They do take you off the tarmac paths onto grass/compressed dirt paths though.
Doing this walk anti-clockwise, and then following the path back to Charlstown Rd i.e. not turning right after lake reduces the number and severity of the hills as well.
The boathouse cafe has been completley refurbished and is open daily. It is a great place to start, end or take a midway break and enjoy a cuppa, on a walk around the clough.
