Route instructions

[1] Come out of the main entrance to the health centre and onto Stanstead Road. Turn right and cross Brockley Rise using the pedestrian crossing. Continue along Stanstead Road, continuing straight on past Dulwich Business Centre. Follow the road as it bends around to the left.

[2] Eventually you will come to a junction with Waldram Crescent. Turn right here and pass underneath the railway. Follow the road as it turns left, and then at a major road junction go right along London Road. Follow this all the way to the entrance to the (A) Horniman Museum,

(A) The Horniman Museum as it is today opened in 1901. Before that the collections of natural history specimens, musical instruments and cultural artefacts were displayed in Frederick Horniman’s Forest Hill home which he partially opened to the public. By the end of the 19th Century the collection had grown too large for the house an Frederick commissioned a dedicated museum. The collection underwent extensive refurbishment in 1999, and re-opened in 2002. The museum and gardens are free to enter and are open daily from 10:30 to 5:30.

[3] From the main entrance to the gardens it is possible to trace any one of a number of routes. Our suggested one is to turn left once into the gardens, and follow the main perimeter path uphill until you reach a small pond. Turn right here, still walking around the perimeter, until you reach the exit onto Horniman Drive.

[4] Walk up Horniman Drive and then turn right along Westwood Park. Cross Honor Oak Road, turn right and then very shortly left into Manor Mount. Follow this road as it bends right, becoming David’s Road. This eventually leads to the junction with Devonshire Road. Turn left here, crossing Devonshire Road and walking underneath the railway line. From here retrace your steps back to the health centre.
