London Fields and ‘Albert Square’
This is an interesting Hackney walk of under an hour through London Fields and ‘Albert Square’. The walk passes through Graham Road and the Mapledene Conservation Area. It visits London Fields and, on the return, finds connections with music hall singer Marie Lloyd, a historic Germanic legacy around the German Hospital and the inspiration for the famous Albert Square in the BBC soap Eastenders. London Fields Park contains tennis courts, paddling pool, café, toilets and the London Fields Lido. This Lido (1932) is London’s only 50-metre heated outdoor pool and is generally open whatever the weather!
