Castlefield

This is a long urban walk of an hour and a half through of one of Manchester’s main conservation and heritage areas.  This walk passes one of the oldest pubs in Manchester, Peveril of the Peak Pub with its ornate tiling.  This was built about 1820, and is Grade II listed.  There is a chance to have a break in Catalan Square as this is roughly the halfway point of the walk, and a good place for a rest.  There is plenty in the canal basin for the more energetic to see, and a good view of three huge railway viaducts crossing the canal basin.
