[1] Leave Goldieslie Close and turn right into Goldieslie Road. At the end of the road cross over Jockey Road at the pelican crossing and turn left. Continue past Sutton Coldfield Girls Grammar School (A) and cross the railway bridge.

(A)The school was built in 1927. Pupils won the quiz `Top of the Form` firstly on radio in 1957 and again on television in 1965.

[2] Turn right into Somerville Road. Note the beautiful large detached houses. Cross over Somerville Road at the traffic lights to turn left along Monmouth Drive.

Sutton Park on the right covers 2,400 acres and is one of the largest parks in Europe.

During the Second World War camps were built to house German and Italian prisoners. Today the park is very popular with walkers.

Alternative route: the walk can be shortened to 1.4 miles by turning left off Monmouth Drive into Morven Road, then bear slightly left and cross over continuing along Roxburgh Road. At the junction, turn left into Braemar Road. Cross over at the junction with Somerville Road and follow [4] below.

[3] At the roundabout turn left into Stonehouse Road.

If you would like to extend the walk at this point (time and energy allowing), turn right (instead of left) at the roundabout to enter the park and walk up towards Powell’s Pool.

Before reaching the traffic lights, turn left into Braemar Road. The last part of Braemar Road is quite steeply uphill

[4] At the junction with Somerville Road, cross over and turn right along Somerville Road. At the next junction with Jockey Road, turn left, continue over the railway bridge and cross over at the pedestrian crossing to retrace your steps back to the start.
