Become a Walking Ambassador
As a Walking Ambassador your role would be to motivate and encourage participants on our programmes. This will be through providing information and support on the health and social benefits of walking. You will engage with a range of community groups, including children and vulnerable adults, in a variety of settings – including schools, Sure Start centres, libraries etc.
Get Walking Keep Walking is a project aimed at people from urban areas who aren’t already active enough for good health. It works to support people walking independently and also signposts them towards other community activity and health promotion programmes such as health walks and local led walks.
We need your help to run a series of five week led walks programmes. Sessions include workshops and information delivery, followed by a led walk of between 30-60 minutes duration around the local area. The purpose is to encourage people to achieve the government’s recommended goal of walking for 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week, and to walk more in their daily lives. Sessions are usually facilitated by a member of Get Walking staff, and supported by a volunteer Walking Ambassador and a Walk Leader.
We need you to share your enthusiasm for walking to inspire others, sharing your knowledge and experience of the local area and the benefits of walking!
Full training and ongoing support will be provided. You can find out more details about the role, the tasks involved and how to apply below.
