Swindon offers plenty of led walks, events and opportunities for walkers of any level. Whether you want to start walking for fitness, you’re just starting out or looking to increase the amount you do and want to explore your area, there’s something for you.
Swindon Festival of Walking 14 – 25 May
Get outside and active this spring with a selection of sociable guided walks during the Walking Festival. From wildlife strolls to fitness walks, you can find walks for different interests. All festival walks are short (less than five miles) and most are free and led by volunteers. Please visit www.challengeswindon.org.uk to download the full festival programme/leaflet.
Swindon Health Walks
Short, free group walks, lasting 40 – 60 minutes with socialising and refreshments at the end. Walks are guided by trained volunteers and are part of a nationally accredited scheme, aimed at improving health and encouraging enjoyment of Swindon’s parks and green spaces.

Sociable Strolls
Leisurely volunteer-led group walks (free) explore local green spaces from Broome Manor Golf Complex. The group meets once a month on a Tuesday afternoon at 2.00pm. For more information, phone 01793 465413 or visit Challenge Swindon.
Up ‘n Walking
Up ‘n Walking is a beginners walking group, which takes place at the County Ground’s athletics track every Monday. The group aims to get people walking safely and confidently, and is constantly attracting newcomers or people who are recovering from surgery or a period of ill health. It can be used as a pathway for more challenging walks.

Light and Leisurely Weekend Walks
These short led walks are run by the Ramblers on the last Sunday of every month and are perfect if you have been on shorter health walks and are looking to push yourself a little further or simply want to walk more. The walks are around 3 miles long (1-1.5 hours) and follow the Get Walking Swindon routes in urban settings. No need to book, just turn up on the date and at the time below.
