Walking Programmes in the rest of Britain
If you don’t live in one of our project areas, don’t worry! There are led walks programmes taking place across the county and with a little searching on the sites below you should be able to find something you’d like to go along to in your part of the world. Try these organisations for a good starting point.
Ramblers
The Ramblers is Britain’s walking charity. It runs over 27,000 led walks every year all run by volunteers. Quite a few of these are short, easy walks in towns and cities – you can use the ‘Walks Finder’ to search for walks in your area.
It is also worth looking at group/area web sites in your area. They can be found from the list of areas and groups link on the walks finder page.
Walking for Health
The Walking for Health scheme is run by Natural England and provides led walks across England. These are usually short walks, open to all, and based in local communities. They too have a Walks Finder service.
Let’s Walk Cymru
‘Let’s Walk Cymru’ is a new Wales-wide initiative developed in partnership with Sport Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and Countryside Council for Wales – tasked with increasing the number of people participating in walking as a regular activity.
The overall focus of ‘Let’s Walk Cymru’ is to provide information about walking in Wales, specifically related to health walk programmes.
