Walk4Life Day
On Sunday 25th September thousands of walkers from across Great Britain put on their trainers and took to their feet for national Walk4Life Day. As part of the initiative the Ramblers and Get Walking Keep Walking ran walks in London, Manchester, Sheffield, Durham, Swindon, Birmingham and Cardiff. These walks attracted hundreds of walkers, including plenty of people new to walking and more experienced walkers too.
In London singer Sinitta joined over 100 walkers in Richmond for a fantastic walk around beautiful Bushy Park. 250 people took to Hardwick Park in Durham alongside Diane Youdale (former Gladiator Jet) to enjoy the historic surroundings and parkland. In Manchester 400 walkers braved the wet weather to take part in a 2 mile walk in the picturesque Wythenshawe Park, and another 250 people got walking in Sheffield where families were invited to take part in some great, fun activities afterwards. Around Birmingham’s Mosely Bog (inspiration for J.R. Tolkien) 150 people took to their feet and made the most of the sunshine!
All the events were televised, click on your city to watch clips of walks in Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham or Durham.
Thanks to everyone who came and helped us make the day one to remember!
