Get Walking Day 2011
Last weekend (14th and 15th May) hundreds of people took to their feet and took part in the Ramblers’ Get Walking Day. As part of the event there were free led walks taking place across Great Britain to celebrate the joys of walking as well as promoting the health benefits.
Walks were led by Get Walking Keep Walking projects in Manchester, East London, Sheffield and in Birmingham and proved to be very popular. Thanks to everyone who came along and helped make Get Walking Day so succesful.

Get Walking Day in Manchester
In Manchester the Get Walking Keep Walking Manchester staff and volunteers and the Manchester and Salford Ramblers led two walks from either side of the city and met in Piccadilly Gardens. One group of walkers went from Heaton Park and the other from Wythenshawe Hall. Over 100 walkers took part in the walks and were welcomed in Piccadilly Square by Charlie Walduck,

Walkers on the Sheffield Get Walking Day Walk
Get Walking Keep Walking Sheffield put on a three stage walk across the city. The walk took in some of the city’s parks and canals and the famous botanical gardens. Participants were given goody bags and refreshments.
